Why should I choose a Suzuki outboard?

Suzuki Marine's outboards feature some of Suzuki’s best and most advanced technologies, synonymous with Japanese engineering, that have been developed to deliver better acceleration, better fuel efficiency and better value.

Our offset driveshaft allows you to run a larger diameter propeller at a higher pitch, ensuring better acceleration at any RPM.

Our Lean Burn Control System fuel technology delivers better fuel efficiency, using superior technology to predict fuel needs according to operating conditions, making our 4-stroke outboards even more economical.

The use of maintenance-free timing chains means lower servicing costs. Combined with the lower fuel consumption and better acceleration, these features offer better value to you throughout the lifetime of the engine.

Learn more about the superior features of Suzuki’s outboards by visiting our Knowledge Centre or contacting your local Suzuki dealer for more information.

Parts

What protection does my Suzuki outboard have to prevent corrosion?

Suzuki uses a basic four-part system to fight the effects of corrosion, ensuring your outboard engine stays in the best condition possible.

High-grade aluminium is used for the engine casting and a three-part surface treatment is performed to completely seal the engine from the saltwater environment.

The treatment begins with a thorough cleaning of the engine casting, to eliminate anything that may prevent the adhesion of the surface coatings.

After the chemical cleaning is completed, the engine parts are submerged in an electrified bath of chromium oxide, changing the make-up of the casting’s surface and creating an invisible barrier that becomes part of the casting.

Finally, a hard but resilient epoxy resin primer is baked onto the engine and a final coat of urethane marine grade paint is applied, creating a tough yet lustrous finish.

What is an offset driveshaft?

The Suzuki offset driveshaft positions the powerhead forward of the driveshaft, for improved balance and less vibration on the transom. This is a tested and proven design, making for a compact engine and places the axis of inertia, to a point where the vibrations produced are at a minimum.

Learn more about the offset driveshaft. Find out more about Suzuki's innovations and features in our Knowledge Centre.

Is the timing chain really maintenance free?

Yes, it is. The timing chain is located below the powerhead, where it runs in a continual oil bath for dependable and quiet operation. With Suzuki’s exclusive automatic hydraulic chain tensioner, you can focus on having a good time out on the water. This will also provide you with better value over the life of your outboard, by lowering your servicing costs.

What if I've lost the keys to my Suzuki outboard?

Contact your local authorised Suzuki Marine dealership; key information is retained upon registration of your engine.

What is Lean Burn and is it really more fuel efficient?

Suzuki's Lean Burn Control System fuel technology delivers better fuel efficiency by predicting the amount of fuel you'll need to get where you need to go. This makes our fuel efficient 4-stroke outboard even more economical.

Lean Burn was first introduced on the DF70A/80A/90A to great acclaim and is available across the range of “A” Series in both our Midrange and High Performance engines.

I've purchased spare parts for my outboard online through a site not associated with Suzuki Marine. Will this void my warranty if I use them?

Items not purchased through an authorised Suzuki Marine dealer are referred to as "grey". Grey Market items are predominantly sold on the internet by unauthorised resellers, where it is usually difficult for the buyer to properly inspect the item before purchasing and these products often come with many unknowns such as the item not being genuine or being refurbished.

The Haines Group and its network of dealers are the only authorised agents to sell Suzuki outboards and products throughout Australia and New Zealand. Products not purchased through one of our authorised Suzuki dealers or resellers cannot be covered by our warranty and we cannot provide free technical support or warranty repair to purchasers of these goods.

We recommend only purchasing parts and accessories through your local authorised Suzuki Marine dealer, or contacting them if you are unsure about the authenticity of the product you have purchased.
